Small TypeType update 😊

Hello @InfinityLoop1308 and the PipePipe community ☺️

I hope u are doing well.

I know things are pretty chaotic right now with the storm of YouTube issues, SABR, playback bugs, and all the usual “YouTube is fighting everyone again” problems 🫠

So I wanted to bring a small calmer update, and talk about something a bit different from the usual issue flood: TypeType 😶

Since the first time u tried it, I kept working a lot on the project. It now has 200+ stars on GitHub, dozens of users, and honestly the reception has been way better than I expected.

TypeType now also has its own website:

And two public instances:

• a stable one for normal use
• a beta one for testing new playback work

The beta is actually where I’ve been spending a lot of time recently implementing SABR support, because I also started getting user reports around YouTube playback, and I hit some of the same issues myself 🫨

It’s moving forward pretty well honestly. Also, thank u again for pointing me toward LuanRT / googlevideo, it helped me a lot. It made the whole SABR model much clearer than trying to guess everything blindly.

I also wanted to say again what the philosophy behind TypeType is.

I deliberately built TypeType as a wrapper around PipePipeExtractor instead of trying to create a separate extractor world. The goal is not to hide extraction fixes inside TypeType-specific hacks. When something belongs upstream, I want to help improve PipePipeExtractor, so both PipePipe and TypeType can benefit from it.

That is really important to me: TypeType exists because of PipePipe, and I hope our projects can keep improving each other.

Anyway, I just wanted to share how TypeType evolved since the first time. It felt nice to bring a more positive update in the middle of all the current YouTube chaos.
