Running XM430-W350-R with ESP32-WROOM-32E and RS485 Breakout (SparkFun)

I'm trying to use the XM430-W350-R with the ESP32-WROOM-32E and RS485 Breakout (SparkFun), but it doesn't work at all.
I can't even PING it.
Could there be a problem with this combination?
