• duration vs deadline: duration is how much time you get to attempt, and deadline is by when you will attempt

• practice sets are lifetime and dont have a deadline

• homeworks have a long deadline, and someone can attempt for duration anytime before deadline. different people can attempt at different times within the range

• exams must have a deadline and duration. the start time is on the precise starttime. everyone attempts the LIVE contest at the same time

• for all of the above cases the duration can be variable, can be infinite(unset) for practice-sets and homeworks
