unrecognized command line option '-EHs' and '-GR' persists

Hello. This error was mentioned in issue#26 and supposedly fixed by commenting out
flags << "-EHs"
flags << "-GR"
in the extconf.rb file but when I run bundle install this error persists. Help appreciated. Thanks!
