Consistent color for variables

"$" shares the color with operators like "&&", "()". That's unnatural for PHP. I asked [Grok](https://grok.com/share/c2hhcmQtMi1jb3B5_57c18904-41a0-41ee-a9c3-5801f7b3e42c), it say it's possible to place "$" into different category or use same color with variables. But if I do so I'll lose updates. Can it be changed at current stage? Maybe by adding some option?

Agree. $ is part of variables for PHP.

I'm using a modified version of highlights.scm which adds $ as punctuation.special so you can set it to a colour in your config JSON overrides, removing $ from operators, adding missing operators, fixing some delimiters and brackets and adding some missing keywords. These are the changes I've mentioned, roughly:
