Connection reset when reading list items relating to OpenSSL SSL_CONNECT

I was reading list attachments properly until 5 days ago when I started experiencing the error: OpenSSL SSL_connect: Connection was reset in connection to accounts.accesscontrol.windows.net:443

Does anyone have a work around? Microsoft say they have deprecated this endpoint and are advising use of https://login.microsoftonline.com/$tenantId/oauth2/v2.0/token to acquire bearer token.

How do we integrate this in the library?
